Two Decades

So far I've:
  • worked. That was fun! Everybody was so so sweet! All the waitresses wished me a happy birthday, some multiple times even, and even some of the customers got in on the fun. I got a $4 (in quarters) tip to use on lunch, so...
  • I treated my mom to lunch at the rectory! Yay Sonic!
  • Chilled out at home...I've watched a couple episodes of Glee, and room-cleaning is in the near future...
  • This evening will be eating with the parentals and Matt joining us! Maybe even pull out some board games, who knows?
Plans for the last of break:
  • possibly go dancing.
  • see a few friends on a few nights.
  • make a trip up to KC to visit a lovely Miss April!
  • hang out with my cousin, I think we'll go see a movie.
  • see my Goddaughter hopefully!!!!
  • make it to Mother's jubilee.
  • pack...I guess that's sort of essential, right? And I'm only really giving myself one day to do it...oy. Why do I do this to myself?
  • read...finish up Heaven's Song for the second time and get through more of the first book of the Anne of Green Gables novels.
  • Come up with some more creative blog posts ;-)
St. John Neumann, pray for us!

First Post of the New Year!

Hello, 2011! I'm trying to figure out where 2010 went, though...I was just getting used to it!

I haven't updated on here about life in general in a while, so...are you ready? Well, getting home so early in December has made it feel like school is ages away. And we still have about 17 more days until school starts up again...which means a lot of visiting and working in the mean time. December was filled with all sorts of fun times. Matt's and my first real date since beginning our courtship occurred the evening he got back from Benedictine...Applebees and grocery shopping!! And that next Sunday I went for family lunch at the Voborils'. And then proceeded to meet 2 brothers, 1 sister-in-law, 2 sisters, 2 brothers-in-law, and bunches of nieces and nephew. And he only had to meet 1 brother...I'm thinking the families are a little uneven :-P. I also had the pleasure of meeting another sister and brother-in-law and their daughter while they were in town visiting from Colorado.

Jake got to come home, which was a HUGE blessing...reactions of surprise visits are always grand. My parents were even able to get a few gifts together for him to open on Christmas (we had already sent our package of gifts out to him, and he had opened them back in Virginia already, the stinker!). Getting him back to Virginia was an adventure, though. His flight from Wichita to Atlanta was delayed until 8pm Monday after Christmas, which meant he would miss his connecting flight there and not get back to base until the next day, but he had to report for duty the next morning. So we made an emergency road trip down to Oklahoma that day to get him on a 5:40 flight. Oh joy! I got an iced coffee out of the trip though, so I was set!

Have you ever noticed how everyone attempts to put all of their events between Christmas and New Year's? I mean, it's understandable for college students to do, as we have a limited amount of time left after the first of the year to meet up before leaving for each of our schools again...but...really? I don't feel like I've been home since Christmas! Between a couple road trips to Oklahoma and New Year's Eve (and Eve of the Eve) shenanigans and work...goodness, I didn't even see my dad for about two days, 'cause I'd be leaving as he got home and I'd get home a while after the parentals hit the bed...let me tell ya, I kinda envied them!! It's ok, though, Christmas break is a splendid time to catch up with people and to celebrate with others the Lord's birth. Me, my Goddaughter/cousin Katie, and cousin Samantha
